Itching, redness and swelling are just a couple of annoying things about mosquito bites. Because nobody wants that in their life, especially in the summertime when the skin is super exposed, here are 5 smart ways to keep mosquitoes away from you.

Ok, so you may think: ”I use insect repellents and all is fine, I don’t really need your advice”. Well, it’s time to stop using them hence there have been studies proving that they contain a toxic pesticide dangerous for your health, called Deet. 1. No standing water please!

The first step is to eliminate the standing water from your house and around it. Why? Because mosquitoes lay eggs in it. Standing water attracts families of mosquitoes and we want to prevent that from happening.

2. Include more garlic in your diet!

You probably know the saying: “We are what we eat.”, right? Eating more garlic means releasing more garlic oil from the pores. An interesting thing is that, just as humans, mosquitoes stay away from people that smell like garlic.

3. Protect your precious skin ASAP!

After eliminating and including things, the next step is protecting your skin. Just like the others, this is a smart and effective way of preventing mosquito bites. Mix 2 tablespoons of vegetable oil with 30 drops of lavender oil and rub it gently on your skin to protect it.

4. Lavender everywhere!

Mosquitoes are not big fans of lavender, as you may have guessed already. Actually, they pretty much hate it and you need to take big advantage of that! That’s why you will place a drop of lavender at each open window of your house.

5. The mosquito repellent cocktail

Erm, not really a cocktail, but still a drink that will help you a lot to keep mosquitoes far away from you. Apparently, drinking apple cider vinegar is very useful for this. Add some water and honey to it to sweeten it and there you go!
