Vannacht werden de MTV VMA’s uitgereikt. Daarbij werden BTS, Olivia Rodrigo en Lil Nas X de grootste winnaars met elk drie prijzen. Doja Cat, die de awardshow presenteerde mocht zelf ook twee prijzen in ontvangst nemen.

Vanuit Barclays Center in New York werden vannacht de MTV VMA’s uitgereikt. Hoewel Justin Bieber met voorsprong het meeste nominaties veroverde (negen in totaal), werden het drie andere artiesten die het meest in de prijzen vielen.

BTS, Olivia Rodrigo en Lil Nas X

Drie artiesten vielen drie keer in de prijzen. Het gaat om BTS, Olivia Rodrigo en Lil Nas X. Die laatste won de belangrijkste award van de avond, die voor Video of the year voor Montero (Call Me By Your Name). Met datzelfde nummer won de rapper ook de awards voor Best direction en Best visual effects.

BTS won de awards voor Best group, Best K-pop (met Butter) en Song of the summer (ook met Butter). Olivia Rodrigo tot slot mocht naar huis met de awards voor Song of the year (met Drivers License), Best new artist en Push performance of the year. Doja Cat, Billie Eilish, Justin Bieber en Silk Sonic wonen elk twee awards.
